Tree bylaw sent back to committee
      Largely on the view that private forest tracts should be considered in the same light as any other agricultural crop, county council has rejected the proposed Dufferin Tree Conservation bylaw, and has sent it back to committee for further review and more councillor input.

      Dufferin County council is supporting a bid to retain long-term hospital beds, and could end up seeking ownership of the former Shelburne District Hospital, now the "Shelburne campus" of Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC).

RBC announces first Olympic torchbearer
      Jason Ruby has been selected by RBC as a 2010 Olympic Torchbearer for making a pledge to create a better Canada by donating to his local foodbank and helping those in need. "I am excited and honoured to be part of something so extraordinary as the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay and I want to thank RBC for this opportunity," said Mr. Ruby.

New dates for Jaffer, Docherty
      The appearance of former Edmonton MP Rahim Jaffer in Orangeville provincial court has been put over to Dec. 10 on his charges of driving with over the limit of alcohol in his blood and of possession of cocaine. Mr. Jaffer was initially stopped by Caledon OPP for excessive speed in Palgrave on Sept. 11.
