Shelburne is not known as a lacrosse hot-spot but the local organization is garnering some accolades in the Ontario lacrosse community.

Hannah Early, a native of Shelburne was recently named to the Women's U19 Canadian lacrosse team. Early 'cut her teeth' in the sport playing box lacrosse with the local organization, playing right up through to the midget level when she switched over to the Women's game and this marks the first time a female player from Shelburne has earned a place on the national stage.

Working behind the scenes, Barry Trood has been a driving force in establishing and growing the sport of lacrosse in Shelburne. For his efforts, Trood was presented with the "Mr Lacrosse award'"- the Thomas Teather Trophy at the Ontario Lacrosse Association's annual general meeting held in Niagara earlier this month.
