Design expert on tap for SPCA fundraiser
      The Marlin Travel offices at the Orangeville Walmart store will be the scene Sunday afternoon of an unusual fundraiser for the local SPCA. For a $30 cash donation, participants will get a 20- minute consultation with home decorator Marg Anquetil, winner of eight design awards.

Achill choir to perform at local Torch Relay
      The Achill Choral Society has been chosen by the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games (VANOC) to sing the Olympic Song on December 28 when the Torch Relay arrives in Orangeville.

      The Orangeville-based Amaranth Lions Club says its 2010 fundraising lottery cash calendars are selling fast. "If you need a Christmas or any occasion gift that keeps on giving all year, with a chance to win more than once since your ticket goes back in the draw each time for the 365 days, this is the one," the club said it a news release.

Two dead in head-on crash north of Shelburne
      A head-on collision on Highway 10 near Corbetton Tuesday night took two lives. Officers of Dufferin OPP detachment report that the crash at about 8 p.m. occurred when a southbound vehicle veered into the northbound lane. As a result of the crash five people were transported by ambulance to hospitals in Orangeville and Markdale.

New bakery marks opening
      Orangeville's new bakery on Broadway is about to have a grand opening. Pia's Bakery, at 177 Broadway, opened its doors to the public earlier this month after 10 weeks of construction work. The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, when Mayor Rob Adams will cut the ribbon at 5 p.m.
