Wolves in promotional clip
Three lucky players from the Orangeville Wolves travelled to Toronto recently to take part in a video being filmed to promote Jakes House, an organization to help families with autistic kids.
Wolves player's Matthew Moore, Michael McCreary and Michael Williams all took part in the production, playing the rolls of hockey players in an SHI (Special hockey International) hockey tournament.
Several bus loads of high school students from St. Michael's School became extras to provide crowd scenes.
It took nearly six hours of filming with three separate cameras to get all the shots needed for the 60 second spot.
The video was shot at the legendary St. Michael's College Arena on Bathurst Street. The arena has been home ice for many hockey greats such as Frank Mahovlich, Tim Horton, Gerry Cheevers and Ted Lindsay, all of whom got their start there playing for the St. Michael's 'Majors'.
In addition to the Wolves, were players from several other nearby special needs hockey teams including players from Jake's House.
Number four, Bobby Orr became the 'team captain' for part of the video, which let the Wolves get a chance to meet him up close and spend some time with him.
'I love Bobby Orr,' said Michael Williams,
He plays on the Boston Bruins!'.
Orangeville Wolves Michael McCreary stated that 'It was a great experience'.
The three Wolves also got a picture taken with Orr, so they will have a lasting reminder of the day.
Other hockey celebrities including Jim Gregory and Don Cherry also will appear in the final production.
The video should be released sometime later this month, and will be shown primarily between periods at various NHL arenas during games.
