Explorer’s ‘snow trains’ all but sold out

The Credit Valley Explorer’s 2010 “snow train” winter excursions are proving to be an embarrassing success.

With the first of six planned excursions still more than three weeks away, all but one has already been sold out, the lone exception being Saturday, February 20.

The six tours, on Feb. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, all had premium prices and services (all including meals and refreshments) for the three-hour return trip to the north end of Brampton.

Steve Gallagher, spokesman for the Explorer’s operator, Cando Contracting, said weather-related difficulties make it unlikely any additional tours or seating will be offered. Among them is a need to book only two of the tour service’s three coaches because of the risk of problems with their heating systems. “We always want to have one spare coach, just in case,” he said.
