Bantam Tigers play-off bound

The Royal Bank Orangeville Tigers B girl’s hockey team recently wrapped a successful 2009/2010regular season schedule.

January 17th saw the Tigers take to the ice against the Georgina Golden Hawks.

Andrea Gee opened the scoring with her first goal of the year assisted by Katherine Swainson and Abby Hanlon.

In the second, Sara Martin scored assisted by Katie Illick and Kelly Livingston.

Madison Krofchick from Swainson and Gee made it 3-0 after two periods.

The Tigers put the game away with goals from Swainson and Livingston in the third period. Assists to Adrianna Sciortino, Jordan Beam, Martin and Illick on those two goals.

Alecia Darrah played solid in net as she gave up the first goal of the game early in the first period but shut out the Golden Hawks during the remainder of the game.

On January 19th the Tigers took on the North Simcoe Capitals.

Martin opened the scoring from Illick early in the second period.

The Capitals stormed back with two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead going into the third period before putting it out of reach with another in the third to seal off the scoresheet with a 3-1 victory.

Emily Henderson played in goal and was outstanding as the Tigers were outshot 26-8.

The last game of the season was played against the North York Storm.

North York opened the scoring in the first period to take an early 1-0 lead.

The Tigers came on strong, dominating the second in search of the equalizer.

With just two minutes left in the mid-frame, Andrea Gee leading an end to end rush passed the puck to Riley Kirsten on the two-on-one who proceeded to bury a wrist shot in the far side. Lauren Bond had the other assist.

The Tigers outshot the Storm 23-8, however, they could not get another goal as the game ended 1-1.

The Tigers finished third in their division with a record of 9-11-2.

This will set up a playoff game against the Georgina Golden Hawks.

The Tigers will also see action in the Provincial Playdowns against the Guelph Thunder and the Mount Forest Rams as well as making scheduled appearances in three more tournaments.
