Drivers injured in crash during storm last week
County Road 11 was closed for more than six hours last Thursday following a serious accident during a storm near daybreak.
Dufferin OPP say officers from the detachment were dispatched to the collision on County 11 south of 10 Side Road, where a southbound Honda Civic had apparently skidded across the centre line and collided with a northbound Freightliner recycling/garbage truck.
The truck driver, a 61- year-old man from the Arthur area, was transported by ambulance to Headwaters Health Care Centre with minor injuries.
The car driver, a 35 year-old Shelburne man, was transported by ambulance to Headwaters Health Care Centre with life-threatening injuries and taken by air ambulance to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, where he remains in serious condition but no longer in intensive care.
Police say the road surface was slippery with ice and packed snow in the area at the time of the collision. The road was closed from 7 a.m. until 1:30 p,m,, while OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators examined the scene.
