Thanks for generous donation The Orangeville Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands have come through again for our community. On behalf of the Friends of Island Lake, I would like to thank the members of these two Rotary Clubs for their very generous donation of $25,000 towards the construction costs of the South trail at Island Lake. Because of local groups such as these, private donations, grant dollars and hundreds of volunteer hours it’s happening! Metre by metre, the anxiously anticipated Island Lake Family Trail is making its way around the perimeter of Island Lake. When this fully accessible trail system is completed, as a result of an agreement reached between the CVC, the Town of Orangeville and the Town of Mono, both Mono and Orangeville families will be able to enjoy the spectacular scenery and reap the health benefits this beautiful trail system has to offer without having to pay the entrance fee to the Conservation Area. However, we’re not there quite yet. A connecting elevated walkway from the north shore to the south shore is the next and (almost) final stage in this exciting project. Members of the Friends of Island Lake are currently seeking funding to complete this phase. You will see us around at local events and running fundraisers such as the Island Lake Fishing Tournament and Family Camping Weekend on July 10th and 11th, in hopes of gaining your support in this community endeavour. So once again, thank you Orangeville Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands, for your investment in a healthy lifestyle and bringing our community that much closer to the completion of the beautiful Island Lake Community Trail.
