A night and day difference
Apparently Rev. John Lockyer does not know where the human condition comes from, he wants to vie up guilt for Lent. Does he not know, or pretends not to know, of the fall in Paradise? That our first parents, Adam and Eve, were deceived by Satan, who came to the woman in the form of a serpent? That they did eat of the fruit of the tree of which they were not supposed to eat ?
For God had said if you do, you shall die. But the woman believed Satan’s lie, who said if they would eat of it they would not die, but be as gods, knowing good and evil. In paradise man had a free will and God wanted to test man if he really wanted to obey and serve God, but man failed the test. Man had become a guilty sinner. But Mr. Lockyer is saying do not accept that you are guilt!
John the Baptist preached repent of your sins and be baptized. In this way he prepared the way for our Saviour so that there would be a people ready to receive The Lord Of Heaven and Earth, born of Mary as a baby.
Furthermore, Mr. Lockyer states that the Christian faith and the Islamic faith have the same idea, which is not true. i,e. John 14:16 reads (Jesus) will pray the Father and he shall give you another Comforter that he may abide with you forever. Which was fulfilled o the day of Pentecost.
The Koran, in Sura 61:6 says that this verse really means that Jesus predicted the birth of the prophet Mohammed, which of course is false. The contrast between the Lord Jesus and the prophet Mohammed could not be greater.
It is as the difference between night and day.
Christ died for the sins of the world on the cross so that whoever believes in Christ Jesus and repents of his sins will be saved. We are saved by the blood of Christ poured out on Calvary’s cross. Also most of the apostles died a martyr’s death. On the other hand Mohammed and his followers established the Islamic religion with their swords covered with blood.
Mr. Lockyer’s Christian perspective is nothing less than telling people there is nothing wrong with them, live life to the fullest, do not worry for you were created good in the Garden of Eden and forgetting all the rest of the story.
The sad end of course, is that there is no call for repentance so that men might repent and turn to Christ Jesus, their Saviour. Instead, they are left in their sins and consequently they will be cast into the everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matt. 25:41).
