Ontario SPCA Walk-a-thon coming
NATIONAL HIKE FOR HOSPICE DAY will be held May 2 is recognition of Hospice Dufferin, which supports individuals living with a life-threatening illness or bereavement. In 2009, Hospice Dufferin served 34 per cent more clients in Dufferin County than in 2008 and must fundraise 75% of their annual budget. Mayor Rob Adams, centre, was on hand at the Mill Street site of Orangeville Public Library to encourage citizens to recognize the hospice’s contribution by joining them for the National Hike for Hospice as they conduct a walking tour of the Orangeville tree sculptures. Joining Mayor Adams were (left to right) Maureen Riedler, Leslie Green, Melissa Staveley, Mike McGuinness, Rob Smith and Sharon Nemeth. Ontario SPCA Walk-a-thon coming
The Orangeville & District Branch of the Ontario Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will hold a fund-raising walk-a-thon on Sunday, May 2.
Each year, the Ontario SPCA provides protection, care, sheltering, and rehoming for thousands of animals. It also advocates for stronger animal protection laws, provincially and nationally. Your participation in this year’s walk-athon will help ensure its continued voice for all animals across the province.
An event to raise financial support and awareness for the protection and care of animals in the community., the walk begins at the Alder Street Recreation Centre’s Red Rink with registration and coffee. Participants and their dogs will walk a 5km route along the Mill Creek Trailway system and come back to the recreation centre for lunch and a fun dog contest.
Top Prize is a Walt Disney All-Star Resort Holiday Trip for Two.
All participants will receive a ballot for every
25 raised. Completed ballots will be entered in a draw for a chance to win this amazing holiday prize package.
The trip includes return airfare from Toronto, transfers to and from Orlando International Airport, a standard hotel room and seven-day Park Hopper passes (but does not include water parks). The draw, to be held in September, is being generously sponsored by Gerry M. Lougheed Jr. and his Friend for Life, Louis McBuddy.
In 2008 and 2009 this top prize was won by a participant from Orangeville. So by raising lots for the animals you can get lots of ballots for this great Holiday Trip for Two.
