By WES KELLER Freelance Reporter

North Dufferin Agricultural and Community Taskforce has announced its entertainment lineup for its May 29 People Power Gathering at Shelburne Fairgrounds from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Nanci Malek said the afternoon will feature at least five acts including Kimberley Dawn; Gary Heaslip; Ken Harrison & his band; Mag, Donna, and Alex Aldcorn; Eric Prentice; and Kate Jones. - www.katejones.ca

Not all of those groups would be known locally, but Gary is a real estate broker who began a singing career upon graduation from Centre Dufferin District High School by touring with Joe Firth throughout Canada and parts of the U.S.

Kimberley Dawn, a versatile singer and radio announcer from Winnipeg, will also appear as the warm up act in the evening. Kimberley has been lauded by several media, including the Winnipeg Sun, as a singer whose singles have ranked as #1 Hits on the Country 100 Charts, including “My Spirit Flies”, “Saying Good By to the Blues”, “Sorry Won’t Do” and “Return to Madawaska”.

She has headlined performances along with the likes of music legend Randy Bachman, Ray St. Germain (she joined him on the Metis Express, one of her career highlights to date), Doc Walker, The Waking Eyes, C-Weed, and Wayne Lavalee.

One review describes her thus: “Her uplifting, pop-country, adult contemporary style is one of a kind.”

Kate Jones is a versatile singer-songwriter, guitarist, artist and photographer who appears to have engagements from coast to coast.

You’ll be able to catch the afternoon acts as part of your admission of $10 for adults or $5 for seniors and children.

The evening concert will be $30. It features Kimberley Dawn, Alex J. Robinson and Marshall Dane.

The concert might be a sellout as all three acts are highly touted. Alex J. Robinson, born in Sudbury in 1985, is a female country singersongwriter who issued her first album Never Say Never in 2008.

Her debut single, Breakin’ on the Love

Thing, went to No. 21 on the Radio and Records Canadian country chart. It is she who appeared on an Ontario Tourism commercial performing There’s No Place Like This.

It’s not all about music only. Throughout the day, there’ll be “local Vendors, a petting farm and pony rides, ATV demonstrations, live entertainment during the afternoon featuring the finest in local talent (along with Gary Heaslip), food tent and beer garden, a kids play area (and) a Horse Trail Ride supporting Public Trails — Dundalk to Shelburne, said Ms. Malek.

Registration forms for the ride are available at www.ndact.com
