Vets dump Cav’s
Shelburne Vets rebounded from a 12-2 spanking at the hands of the Wellington Warlords on the road in Fergus on Friday night to send the Cavaliers dragging their tails back to Kingston on Saturday after giving up a 12-5 decision to Shelburne.
The Vets never really seemed to get things going on Friday against the Warlords, Down 5-0 at the end of one, Vets Jordan Monahan would score the first of only two goals for Shelburne on the power-play midway through the second period. Tyler Greer notched another powerplay marker for the Vets at 6:34 of the third but that would be all the offence they could muster, going down by a final score of 12-2.
Playing at home in Dundalk on Saturday it was a much different story.
Swapping goals with the Cavaliers over much of the first two periods, Shelburne pulled away in the third with three unanswered goals while shutting down Kingston's offence to go on to post a 12-5 victory.
Daniel Craig lead the way for Shelburne with four goals and two assists while Monahan added three assists to his hat-trick. James Shaw, David Irons, Ryan Basso along with Jon and Matt Nevills each tallied for singles to round out the scoring for Shelburne.
The Vets next see action next Tuesday in Stroud against the Innisfil Wolfpack before hosting Caledon on Wednesday.
