Mazda dealership has new owner
For Mazda Canada, the wheels are back in motion in Orangeville.
Just weeks after Mazda of Orangeville was targeted by the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council with “unfair practice” charges and had its sales agreement with Mazda Canada terminated, the Highway 9 dealership is back in business, under the name Motion Mazda.
New dealer Glen Alizadeh, a 23-year veteran of the automobile selling business, said the name was picked because “we thought we needed to change the name to reflect the new ownership, new management and a new philosophy of communicating with our customers.”
Besides being in the same location, Motion Mazda has taken over the former owner’s inventory. While it has been open for business since early this week, the dealership is expecting to make it official today (Thursday) when it receives its final dealer code and authorization from Mazda Canada.
The new ownership group brings considerable experience to the fore. It owns and operates several dealerships in the Brampton Auto Mall, including Mazda of Brampton.
“With Brampton being so close, we thought that (acquiring the Orangeville dealership) would be a real good fit.”
Mr. Alizadeh said some staff remain from the old dealership, some new employees have come on board and the company is in the process of interviewing candidates to fill other positions.
