Dalton McGuinty a ‘narcissist, not nanny’
Subject: Role as ‘nanny premier’ may be helpful, Eric Dowd, June 3rd, 2010:
All adults know children “grow out of nannies.” The British have thrown off their Labour “nannies” at long last who, in their 13-odd years in power introduced something like 3,000 new ‘laws’. Thus, you have a man charged in the cab of his idling truck — in Ontario — for smoking ‘in the workplace’; and thus, in Britain, you had a man charged for the same ‘offense’ while sitting in his house’s breakfastnook, where his home was also his office.
Ontarians are, increasingly, less and less allowed to speak or think for themselves which is as well, perhaps, since the McGuinty Liberals have removed the last vestiges of academic standards from public education in Ontario, replacing these ‘fossils’ with “feel good”, failure-free, quasi-religious rubrics that speak only to empty technique, contentdenudation, and vacuous activities, mindless processes, and group time-wasting on a massive, mind-numbing scale. Real curriculum has been supplanted by the new, state-sanctioned secular Religion of Sex — and more sex, please!! — Education.
Mercifully, when Mr. McGuinty attempted to ram this last, at a new level of repulsiveness, down our throats (no pun intended: honi soit qui maly pense) in April, Ontarians ‘phoned their M.P.P.s en masse and said this, at least, was unacceptable, was appalling. Within 48 hours Premier McGuinty had totally capitulated in his usual, teflon fashion.
In truth the provincial Liberals under Mr. McGuinty are not as much nannyish as they are narcissistic (“having a god complex”). The most narcissistic of all was, of course, the former Attorney-General, Mr. Bryant. As the Caledonia occupation got under way in 2006, he completely and serially undercut court orders coming out of Cayuga courthouse which required that the illegal occupation of private property around Caledonia end forthwith and immediately.
Bryant, a ruthless but tooclever by-half Harvard Law grad, diminished the rule of law in Ontario immeasurably, and serially turned the brilliant polymath Justice David Marshall’s rulings into the bitterest of bad joke for the taxpayers, businesses, and embattled, besieged home-owners of Caledonia, Ontario.
Justice Marshall was flummoxed by the open flaunting and ignoring of the Law in the province he loved and served so well: he died this past winter as civil proceedings commenced in Hamilton, civil-proceedings against the Ontario government.
The Browns, one abandoned family from Haldimand County — who were abandoned by the O.P.P.; who were abandoned as yokels by the then-Attorney- General’s office; who were abandoned by the gutless and feckless Liberal Government of Premier Dalton McGuinty, and left to fend for themselves frontier-style in the face of rampant, armed, belligerent lawlessness — has since sought civil redress.
While Mr. Bryant was appearing in stylized YouTube offerings from peaceable parts of Caledonia contemporaneously in the first spring/summer of the armed land occupation, the Brown were being searched at gunpoint and asked for ‘passports’, and further harassed by masked thugs for merely trying to drive up to their own private property with their groceries or after a day at work.
The CBC’s Rex Murphy is outstanding about this on a segment from The National that is floating around cyber-space. Mr. Murphy asks an unanswerable question about the Browns and their unbelievable predicament: “Why did the Ontario Government go to court against the Browns?” While Mr. Bryant quickly moved onto the brighter lights of the “big city” and his hard-driven denouement, the McGuinty ‘team’ has attempted to destroy — shamefully — individual Caledonia families, landowners, and developers one-by-one through our courts, as their cases justly brought against the Liberal government come to trial.
The current Ontario government attempted to annihilate the Browns at trial in a Hamilton Superior Court this past winter, with gossip, filthy allegations, and smears. Christie Blatchford said in her newspaper column at the time that it was the worst, most shameful, first-hand experience and episode she had ever witnessed during her long, distinguished career in Canadian news-gathering. After days of relentless, brutal, scandalous, and humiliating examinations of and about the Browns, the Attorney-General’s office (now under Chris Bentley, M.P.P.) suddenly gave up, and the narcissistic bully gang from Queen’s Park realized that they had met an undeterrable foe who would not be bullied.
The McGuinty Liberals quickly licked the nicks on their teflon hide, and wrote a huge compensatory cheque in a news blackout (as usual when the Attorney- General’s office is doing something the public will disapprove of), likely in the $3-4 million range (the Browns had claimed $7 million).
Similarly the McGuinty narcissists have been trying to smear and destroy for months the quite singular Ombudsman of Ontario, Mr. Andre Marin. With him, however, they had met their match in the Ottawa University law professor lawyer Marin retains; and, the McGuinty government cravenly backed off as bullies always do when they have met their match and are likely to have their nose broken or their good looks marred.
Such is the way with narcissistic bullies.... This is their tactic then: go for the throat of any perceived enemy, opponent, or threat, especially marginalized or seemingly isolated individuals, go early, go viciously, and go with the implied, but full, force of the state’s resources — rather like the terrifying dogs bred for similar purposes and kept by the pigs in George Orwell’s timeless fable Animal Farm — and attack unrelentingly until absolute victory is won and the intimidated or overwhelmed opponent is silenced, or it is quite clear there is no possibility whatever of (legally) winning, then sulkily re-chaining “the dogs” (as it were) until the next possible occasion or threat comes along when the surprisingly insecure and touchy Mr. McGuinty and his immediate cohort (mainly quite mediocre but pushy government lawyers) feels fear.
See how rigidly inflexible Mr. McGuinty was about the new “sex ed” curriculum at the outset: see how quickly he folded when real, widespread, vigorous opposition got going to it, when real Ontarians in their 1000s starting ‘phoning their MPPs and said enough is enough.
Fun with Dalton & Leona: see Leona and Dalton: Watch Leona and Dalton run!! First the bully and the bullying; and, then, the craven coward with no core convictions — always, however, the image-conscious narcissist, the thin-skinned but tefloncoated Premier of Ontario. Narcissist, not nanny, one finds.
