Northmen A remain undefeated at 12-0
Orangeville's Rayburn Construction continue to be the team to beat in 2010 as the local Junior A lacrosse club improved their regular season record to a perfect 12-0 after posting a convincing 13-6 win over Burlington this past weekend at the Tony Rose arena.
It was the second meeting of these two teams in as many games with the Northmen pulling out an 11-8 decision in Burlington just five days before.
It did not take long for Orangeville to set the pace in this game with Blair Goss opening the scoring on a heads up pass from Dillion Ward just 40 seconds into the game.
Andrew Suitor was next followed by Kyle Kallay, Greg Harnett and a pair from Deron Dempster before Burlington would answer back with three unanswered goals of their own to make it 6-3 midway through the second period.
Goss would get in on the action once again, teaming up with Jeremy Noble to assist Brandon Ivey at 12:15.
Burlington answered back less than two minutes later to keep things close but again Ivey and Noble combined once again with the help of Pat Saunders as Noble chipped in his 17th of the year, a powerplay marker at 18:04 to make it 8-4 for Orangeville heading into the final 20 minutes of play.
Third period action though saw the Northmen take control once and for all as Cody McMahon and Jordan Critch added singles while Kallay notched his second of the game before Saunders wrapped up the Orangeville scoring with two to offset Burlington's lone third period pair making it 13-6 for the Northmen at the final buzzer.
The week ahead promises to be a heavy one for the Northmen with five games scheduled over the next eight nights. Wednesday June
