Photo/MIKE MALONEY Orangeville Kings find themselves back on the winning track, posting a pair of back-toback, double up wins over Rockwood and Alma respectively in Intercounty Fastball League play.

Taking first to the field in Rockwood last Thursday night, the Kings jumped out to an early 4-0 first inning lead. A triple from Joel Pegg brought home Orangeville’s first runner followed in short order by an RBI single by Jeff Donaldson and then capped with a double off the bat of Kyle Anderson to score two.

In the second inning, Scott Gordon's triple would cash in Kent Campbell before Pegg's sac fly brought Gordon home to make it 6-0.

The next six and one half innings yielded little in the way of offence by either team until the bottom of the seventh when Rockwood staged the beginnings of a late comeback. Making the most of singles and errors in the Orangeville outfield, Rockwood would claw themselves back in the game, scoring three before Kings pitcher Scott Gordon shut things down to give the Kings a 6-3 win.

Tuesday night back home on the Idlewyld diamond, Pegg took the mound for Orangeville and quickly settled in, giving up a lone single while fanning three to retire the side.

The Kings would get on the board first during their half of two when Anderson's triple brought Greg Hickey home from second. Mike Lake was next up and he soon connected with a double to score Anderson before Scott Seltzer's single was enough to bring Lake around and across home plate.

Pegg would help his own cause in the bottom of third inning play with a solo shot over the fence to give Orangeville a 4-0 lead.

Alma managed to cut the deficit to two when they collected a pair of runs off four hits in the fifth but that would be it on the score sheet for both teams as Pegg ended the game the way he started, pitching his 10th, 11th and 12th strike-outs of the game to retire the side with Orangeville posting a 4- 2 win.

The Kings wrap up June with a game in Arthur on Wednesday night against the Merchants (results unavailable at presstime) before hosting Maryhill Knights back in Orangeville at 9 p.m Tuesday, July 6th.
