Eric Dowd, in his article “A timely show of sympathy for the Palestinians” (June 20) does not seem to remember the history of events around the time of the creation of the State of Israel! What are the facts?

The Palestinians were told by the attacking forces of Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, to get out of the way so they cold annihilate the Jewish State. That is why most of them left.

At about the same Jews in the Moslem countries had to flee from these countries and often with just the clothes on their backs. Nine hundred thousand went to Israel. Roughly the same number of Palestinians left Israel to get out of the way of the Arab legions. These Palestinians are now used as pawns. According to Moslems Israel should not exist!

Act II of the hams covenant states “the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waph (Holy Possession) consecrated for future Moslem generations until Judgment day. No one can denounce it or any part, abandon it or any part of it.”

Article 13 states Palestine is an Islamic land . . . Since this is he case, the Liberation of Palestine is an individual duty for every Moslem wherever he may be.

In contrast Palestinians that are left should be absorbed into Arab countries. (i.e. Jordan, a Palestinian state). As the sate of Israel did for every Jew forced to flee Moslem countries. Besides this there are already more than one million Arabs in Israel with the same privileges as Jews.

Now we read in the paper that some of these Arabs who are elected into the State of Israel’s Governing Knesset were also on the ships that tried to break the embargo of Gaza. You can imagine what internal turmoil that caused!

Most of the world it seems, is u in arms about what the Israelis did but not the Harper Government. They do recognize the legitimacy of the Jewish state efforts of defend itself.

The ancient legitimacy of the State of Israel can also be proven by a signet ring given on loan to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by the department of antiquities. It was found next to the wall of the second temple, but dates back to the first temple. It dates back 2800 years to the period of the kings. It is a signet seal of a Jewish official by the name of Netanyahu Ben-Yoash. The Prime Minister Netanyahu’s last name is the same as the officials’ first. The Prime Minister’s first name dates back a further 1000 years to the son of the Patriarch Jacob, who also walked the hills of Israel.

But all this means nothing to most world leaders. They are ready to carve up Israel even more to gain peace in their time.

But the God of the Bible calls Israel my land, given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He makes it crystal clear that he will have the last word.

“For behold, in those days and at that time, when I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat (judgment). And I will enter into judgment with them there on account of my people, my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations. They have also divided up My Land. (Joel 3:1, 2 NKJV)
