CIBC marks 140 years with charitable gifts

Orangeville’s CIBC branch celebrated 140 years in the town Tuesday with an open house from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In recognition of their position in the Orangeville community, the bank donated $1,000 to Big Brothers and Big Sisters Dufferin as well as presenting Theatre Orangeville with $2,500 toward the theatre’s Youth Program.

David Nairn, Artistic Director at Theatre Orangeville, stated that CIBC is ‘the bank with a face’.

“We were thrilled to receive this donation, which will subsidize program tuitions, giving all youth equal opportunity to participate in Theatre Orangeville programs,” said Marilyn Logan, General Manager of Theatre Orangeville.

Mr. Nairn commented that this donation is going to one of the most important parts of the Orangeville community, its youth.

“These funds will help us match children with caring mentors through variety of programs we have in the community,” said Nancy Stallmach, Executive Director of Big Brother and Big Sisters Dufferin, adding: “$1,000 goes a long way with us.”

Mayor Rob Adams stated that as a customer he is always treated well whenever he goes into the bank.

“On behalf of Orangeville Council, would like to congratulate CIBC on reaching this milestone,” he said. “The bank has served multiple generations of residents and should be proud of the role it has played in the development of our community.”

The donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters Dufferin is through the CIBC’s Employee as Ambassador Program. This program recognizes the effort that CIBC employees make to help in their communities by volunteering their time and expertise. Branch manager, Danny Magoci, has been involved with Big Brothers and Sisters for five years and will be joining the organizations board in September.
