Highland cites map ‘inaccuracies’

A spokesman for The Highland Companies has drawn the attention of the president of 401 Energy Ltd. to “inaccuracies” in a map the firm issued in connection with the proposed Farm Owned Power (Melancthon) Ltd. wind farm.

In the letter, Highland’s Michael Daniher told 401 President Paul Boreham he was writing “in response to public uncertainty and comments generated by inaccuracies contained in a map issued by 401 Energy.”

“Your Updated Draft Project Description Report dated May 28, 2010 includes a map ... identifying what it purports to be the properties participating in the project. The map seemingly includes land owned by The Highland Companies in this category.

“In fact, and as you know, The Highland Companies is not associated with 401 Energy or the project in question, be it as an equity investor, participating landowner or otherwise. This was publicly acknowledged by your representative during the February 4, 2010 meeting of Melancthon Township Council. I have publicly confirmed the same information on other occasions, most recently during the July 8, 2010 meeting of the same Council. In addition, our own research suggests that a review of Land Registry Office records and information contained in your map will produce a list of the project participants.

“In order to avoid further public confusion, please direct Dillon Consulting Limited to prepare a revised map free of any designation suggesting that the Company’s properties are included in your project, and circulate the corrected map to all parties that received the current version.”
