Orvis no-hitter

Bengals pitcher Kyle Orvis was in the zone when he took to the mound at Princess of Wales Park this past Monday night. Playing against the Bolton Jr. Braves in game one of a double header, Orvis went the distance to pitch a nohitter as Orangeville posted a convincing 12-0 win over the Braves in North Dufferin Baseball League regular season action.

Bolton knew they would be in for a long night as Orvis settled in quickly and started sitting down Bolton batters at a rapid rate. Those he didn't strike out were dealt with in short order by a solid Orangeville defense.

By the fourth inning, his team mates knew Orvis was in the middle of one of those special games and they went out of their way to avoid talking with him as no one wanted to upset the chemistry he was working on the mound.

In the top of what would prove to be the final inning, Bolton managed to connect on a couple of ground balls that almost got through but the Bengals defense held and in the perfect ending to a perfect game, Orvis fanned the final Braves batter - his sixth strike out of the night to lead Orangeville to a 12- 0 victory.
