Rockers successfully defend their oldtimers title

The Dufferin-Simcoe Rockers successfully defended their Canadian National Oldtimers Baseball Championship title after going without a loss during this year’s tournament in Vancouver, British Columbia over the July 30, weekend. The Rockers were defending the title they won last year in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Winning four straight in the preliminary round, they beat out the Edmonton, Alberta team 4-2 in the semi final. The Rockers faced Comox, British Columbia in the championship game, scoring six runs in the first inning on route to an 8-2 victory. This is the third National Championship for the team in the last six years. As a tribute to their late manager Paul “Siv” Carruthers, the team wore his number 29 on their uniform sleeves.
