On Sunday, August 15th Branch 233 will host its 15th Annual Veterans Picnic. Registered Veterans will receive a complimentary Chicken Barbeque meal and a gift. For non-Veterans, the cost of the meal is $6.00. Everyone is welcome to come and honour our Veterans.

Our Wednesday night Euchre is doing very well. $10. to play and all monies go back into cash prizes. On Sunday, August 22nd Branch 233 is hosting its Annual John Amos Memorial Euchre Tournament. The cost is $10. Doors open at 12 noon and games start at 1 pm sharp. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners.

Also on the 22nd, the Sports Committee are holding their Annual Golf Scramble. Sign-up sheets are posted in the Games Room.

This week’s Saturday night Karaoke is being hosted by Johnny Greene from 9 pm until 1.

We have a bus going to the CNE for Warriors’ Day on Saturday, August 21st. The cost is $15. Veterans and Colour Party go free. A sign-up sheet is posted at the bar.

Tickets are going fast for our 75th Anniversary Dinner/ Dance on September 11th. The cost is $25.00 a person and can be purchased at the bar.

Fiddle weekend was a great success. We were so proud to have 9 Veterans riding either in Merv Parker's Jeep or the trailer behind. Our Veterans are very important, Lest We Forget. The Veterans were followed by a float which had our very own Donna Barr dressed as a chicken depicting Wing Nights every 2nd Friday, upcoming on August 20th.

Our draw held on August 8th found winners to be Mary Rideout from Shelburne #251 winning the 1st prize of 50/50 amounting to $300.00; 2nd place winning a patio set with umbrella went to Brenda Ireland from Orangeville, ticket #553; and lastly in 3rd was Steve Coulson from Orangeville winning a turkey fryer. A big thank you to all who supported this draw. Look for a special upcoming draw available soon at the Legion. Many volunteers helped over Fiddle week and they are important, thanks to all who helped. We served many meals and breakfast started at midnight with many people partaking of a great breakfast served and prepared by numerous volunteers.

Bingo every Monday, doors open at 6:30 and early bird at 7:15 p.m. Jackpot grows until won. Our Veterans continue to get together every Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. All Veterans are welcome. Every Monday euchre register register at 2 and play at 2:30 p.m.

August 25 and September 1st register for Wednesday night darts. Registration from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Darts commence on September 8th starting at 8 p.m. Next wing night is August 20th starting at 5:00 p.m. Why not let our volunteers do your Friday night cooking, and you do not have to clean up after dinner. We are always looking for volunteers. Volunteers are import - are you one? Early bird membership campaign starts September 1st.
