Noble awarded MVP for playoffs

Rayburn Construction Jr ‘A’ Northmen forward Jeremy Noble has been honoured with the Most Valuable Player award for the Ontario Jr ‘A’ lacrosse playoffs for 2010.
The 18 year-old had a solid year averaging a goal per game during the regular season, but it was a scoring frenzy in the playoffs that earned him the MVP status.
That included six goals in the final championship winning game against the Six Nations Arrows on August 8.
He also chalked up seven goals in the first three games of that series.
The third year Northmen player appreciates the honour but is quick to share the effort.
“I played well, but it’s a team effort, its not like I did it all by myself,” he said. “It’s great to win that award, but we still have a job to do. We'll put it in with the other hardware in the trophy case, but it’s a team award, it's not just for me.”
Noble will be off to the University of Denver in Colorado in September to study communications on
full lacrosse scholarship.
“It’s a different style, it's field lacrosse out there. Its more of a slower game,” he said.
Receiving the scholarship was the result of travelling with the team to the U.S. and being noticed.
“I’ve got to give a lot of credit to the Hill Academy, in Vaughan, Ontario. We travelled to play teams in the States, and that's where you get noticed.”
The Hill Academy is a private school that caters to serious athletic minded students.
With the Ontario championship behind them the Northmen will be heading to British Columbia to vie for the national championship Minto Cup and Noble expects it to be a tough series considering they will be a long way away from their loyal fans.
“It’s going to be tough,” he said. “Some parents will be there, but everyone else will be against us. It’s pretty much us verses the world. We all know that, and we're expecting that when we get out there, but we have to keep mentally focused and we'll be fine.”
After he completes his school year in Denver, Noble will be returning to the Northmen camp in June for the 2011 season.
