And the heat goes on……but even last Sunday’s scorcher ala rain shower didn’t put a damper on our Annual Veterans’ Picnic. Fortyfour Veterans turned out to receive a complimentary meal and gift. Special thanks to Dods & McNair and Egan Funeral Homes for their donations. Extra special thanks to our tireless volunteers who worked from sunup to sundown to help make this event a success.
Wednesday night Euchre is doing very well. $10. to play and all monies go back into cash prizes. The Annual John Amos Memorial Euchre Tournament is coming up on August 22nd. The cost is $10. Doors open at 12 noon and games start at 1 pm sharp. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners. Also on the 22nd, is our Annual Golf Scramble. A sign up sheet is posted in the Games Room for this event.
Johnny Greene is hosting Karaoke this Saturday, August 21st from 9 pm until 1 am. Come out and enjoy the fun and let loose your singing talents.
There are still some seats left on our bus to the CNE on Saturday, August 21st. Our Sgt At Arms has organized a Colour Party to march in the Warriors’ Day Parade. Bus leaves at 8:00 am from the Legion and the cost, which includes admissions is $15. Colour Party go free. A sign-up sheet is posted at the bar.
The deadline to purchase tickets for our 75th Anniversary Dinner/ Dance Celebration on Saturday, September 11th is August 28th. The cost is $25.00 a person and tickets can be purchased at the bar or phone and reserve.

Bingo continues in Shelburne at the Legion every Monday night, with doors open at 6:30 and early bird play at 7:15 p.m. The jackpot continues to grow until won. Also, lucky number jackpot, come see what that amounts to. Tell your friends, neighbours and relatives Bingo back at Shelburne Legion. Also every Monday at 2 p.m. register for euchre and play at 2:30 p.m. Bingo and euchre are every Monday, including holidays.
Veterans meet every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for coffee, goodies and conversation. If you are veteran you are welcome to join us. Veterans share their good times along with problems and they are a great group. Wives and widows come along sometimes and are more than welcome.
Wing night is this Friday, August 20th from 5 to 9 p.m. $5.00 for a pound or check out the deal. Entertainment also so tell your friends and neighbours. Why cook Friday dinner when volunteers will do it for you. Every 2nd Friday is wing night. Also dart registration begins Wednesday, August 25th from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Join us for fellowship and comradeship and check out the newly renovated front hall.
