Headwaters Health Care Centre’s cafeteria, operated by the hospital’s dietary services department, has been recognized as offering exceptional nutritional standards by Ontario’s healthy workplace program, Eat Smart!

The cafeteria has now received the Eat Smart! award for five consecutive years.

“Dietary staff work closely with the local health unit to provide our staff, patients, visitors and volunteers with nutritious, healthy food choices,” said Marg Robinson, Manager of Food Services at Headwaters.

The hospital cafeteria earned the Eat Smart! Accreditation based on a menu that includes nutritious healthy foods, such as whole grains, vegetables, fruit and lower-fat options and substitutions.

“Creating healthier food choices is part of our ongoing commitment to health and wellness at Headwaters. We are proud to receive the healthy workplace award,” said Ms. Robinson.

Eat Smart! is supported by the Nutrition Resource Centre of Ontario, an initiative of the Ontario Public Health Association, and is run by local public health units across Ontario.
