A promising season
Plaudits to Artistic Director David Nairn for adroitly planning a real crowd-pleaser to launch the season, in Leisa Way’s Tribute to Dolly Parton: Rhinestone Cowgirl, which she performs with her band, the Wayward Wind. That show will have just four performances: three evenings Sept. 23-25 and a matinee on the 27th. The show is a portrayal of Dolly’s life touching on the huge variety of music she’s written and produced.
Next will come Norm Foster’s Skin Flick, about an older couple, who, for various reasons decide to produce a porn film.
Work on TO’s Christmas-season production, Anne (of Green Gables) starts next week with auditions for school-age actors willing to prepare for and act in 29 performances.
And the New Year will bring In a New World Created by a Drunken God, by aboriginal playwright Drew Haydon Taylor, and Harvest, a local story that will be directed by Mr. Nairn.
Finally, May will bring us the world premiere of a still-in-the-works comedy, Ned Durango.
Looks like the new season will have something for everyone.
