Bell Aliant donates backpacks to FTP

2010-09-02 / Local News

As another school year is set to begin, Bell Aliant has donated new backpacks and school supplies to Family Transition Place.

The backpacks, stuffed full of stationery supplies, are provided to children currently calling the shelter their “home”. Some of the backpacks are also used as special prizes in Camp My World (FTP’s summer camp for kids) and FTP’s Violence Prevention programs, such as the BELL POWER program delivered by FTP’s Violence Prevention educators to various schools in Caledon and Dufferin.

“The reactions these kids have after receiving the backpacks are overwhelming,” said Sabina Greenly, Violence Prevention Educator for Family Transition Place. “Many of them couldn’t afford a backpack, let alone the new supplies; this truly means a lot to them. Thank you. Bell. for making a difference.”
