The Orangeville Athletic premier division team are done for the season after losing their playoff game 1-0 to the Orillia SC.

In what coach Dave Lewars described as a "frustrating finish," the Athletic missed two penalty shots in their final game.

The squad ended the regular season in sixth position in the York Region Soccer League's top division with a 5-3- 10 record.

The Athletic got off to a rough start after sustaining injuries early in the season that sidelined several key players and left the team switching some positions around to keep the team viable.

They had two losses at the start of the season before turning it around and taking a couple of wins over Innisfil and Orillia.

Collingwood United ended the season in first place in the league with a 12-2-4 record followed by Owen Sound United who finished in second place with a 10- 2-6 record for the season.

Orillia claimed the third place in the

league with the Bradford Internationals following and Innisfil SC landing in the fifth position.

The Barrie spirit landed in the basement this year.

Striker Gavin Hill was the Athletic’s top scorer with five goals to his credit for the season followed by Guilio Baldassarra who came in second with 3 goals for the team.
