A tense 16 inning final game ended with the Orangeville Bengals junior team winning 2-1 over Dundas to claim the Ontario Baseball Association Provincial Championship on August 22.

The Bengals went to the 'C' division tournament in London, Ontario after winning the North Dufferin Baseball League junior title in August.

Eight top notch teams were entered in the weekend tournament.

The Orangeville squad had a five game sweep beginning with a 4-1 win over Port Hope on day one.

Game two saw the Bengals advance with a 5- 1 win over Dundas, which led to a 6-0 shutout over Dresden on Sunday morning - that game was delayed a day due to inclement weather.

A second Sunday game paved the way to the showdown when Orangeville knocked out London 7-6 and advanced to the final game.

As far as championship games go, you couldn't have written a better script for excitement.

After the regular seven innings, the game was tied at one forcing the game into overtime.

The teams battled it out for eight more frames before the Orangeville team scored in the bottom of the 16th inning to win the top spot by a single point.
