Graffiti ‘artists’ vandalize new Explorer coach
A fourth passenger coach for the Credit Valley Explorer arrived in Orangeville Tuesday as the operator of Southern Ontario’s Most Scenic Rail Tour was gearing up for the popular fall colour tours.
But when the freshly painted 1950s-vintage coach arrived in the rail yards, tour operator Cando Contracting discovered that one side had been vandalized by graffiti ‘artists.’
Cando spokesman Steve Gallagher said an attempt will be made to remove the graffiti but it may be necessary to have the side re-painted. He said the vandalism took place somewhere between Guelph Junction and Orangeville, possibly while the coach was being transferred from the CP Rail main line to the Orangeville Brampton Railway in Streetsville.
With the foliage between Alton and Inglewood expected to be as spectacular as ever, the popular three-hour runs between Orangeville and North Brampton are scheduled to take place almost daily between mid- September and mid- October.
And for those who prefer a little adventure along the way, passengers will get both an evening meal and two “performances” of Murder on the DisOrient Express, the first on Saturday, Sept. 25 and the second on Hallowe’en weekend, Saturday, Oct. 30.
