The Shelburne ‘Russian’ Redwings will be well represented at the Greater Metro Hockey League All Star game on Saturday.

Redwings head coach Jim Aldred confirmed that five of his players will be on the ‘World’ team that will take on Team North America.

The game will pit home grown GMHL players against a European based squad.

Aldred will also be on the bench as one of the coaches.

He will be joined by Bradford Rattlers head coach Johan Lundskog.

“I’ve got five guys plus myself that will be going,” Aldred said. “It’s the North Americans against the world. Our top line is going.”

That includes forwards Alexander Nikulnikov and Stansilav Dzakhov, defenceman Nikita Vasilyev and goal tender Georgy Kiselev.

Nikulnikov and Dzakhov are the league points earners to date.

Kiselev is leading the league in saves.

The Greater Metro Hockey League All Star game will take place at Teen Ranch in Caledon on Saturday, January 15.

The game is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m.
