Founders’ Fair this weekend
Downtown Orangeville will be hosting the annual Founders’ Fair & Sidewalk Sale celebration this Friday and Saturday in the downtown area.
At 6 p.m. Friday, the Taoist Tai Chi Society will once again commence opening ceremonies with their Chinese Dragon, as they dance their way through the streets of downtown and Orangeville’s Town Crier will announce the opening of the 41st Founders’ Fair & Sidewalk sale at 6:15pm.
Campfire Poets will rock the night away on the MacMaster Pontiac Buick/ Meridian Credit Union Main Stage.
A Different Spin will be performing their amazing fire show at 9 p.m. Friday – a visual treat for young and old. New to this year will be their Aerial Acrobatic Show and Juggling Schools taking place on Saturday at the top of Broadway at First Ave. Kids and adults will have a chance to try out everything from plate spinning to juggling, aerials to Chinese yo-yo.
New this year in the Family Fun Zone located on Mill Street will feature the “Monster Mural” where all ages can help paint a custom Founders’ Fair Mural. Petting zoo, face painting, pony rides. Free activities and crafts will be hosted by in Motion, Orangeville’s Park & Recreation program. And watch for the Candy Canon as it shoots candy 50 feet into the air.
Throughout the weekend, the businesses and merchants of Downtown Orangeville will be participating in the Sidewalk Sale offering up to 40% off selected items. Make sure to browse each of their tents for amazing deals and surprise offerings.
Avariety of entertainment is scheduled for the Main Stage, sponsored by Meridian Credit Union and MacMaster Pontiac Buick, including Ontario Conservatory of Music youth Rock Bands and Singers; the Mainlanders; Jerry Tallon, children entertainer; Mark Crocker and the band Cowboy – a country and western band featuring two time Juno winner Hayden Vialva.
Tom’s Martial Arts Entertainment area will feature Karate demonstrations, Highland Dancing, the Double Toed Cloggers and a variety of buskers and entertainers throughout Friday evening and Saturday. Stop by Citrus City Tattoo and enter their Great Orange Eating Contest, Friday at 5:30 and Saturday at 12:30 and 5:30 p.m.
