Trillium grant aids Theatre Orangeville
Over the next two years, Theatre Orangeville will be able to strengthen the capacity of the theatre and continue to promote a healthy arts community in Dufferin with the support from the provincial government and the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
Theatre Orangeville will be able to continue providing high quality professional theatre, thanks the $77,000 grant.
Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones said she is pleased that Theatre Orangeville has the opportunity through the grant provided by OTF to advance professional theatre productions in our community.
“There is nothing more important than being able to share our stories – especially when they are meant to educate and foster a greater understanding of the world around us, and therefore we are proud to support a theatre that is invested in telling stories about Canadians by Canadians” said OTF representative Richard Fearon.
The additional resources will allow Theatre Orangeville to focus on increasing levels of theatre programming, improving the quality of productions, in Dufferin.
“Theatre Orangeville plays a vital role in the cultural ecology of the entire region and it is the largest professional arts organization in the region,” said Marilyn Logan, General Manager of Theatre Orangeville. “The increase in technical staff will provide some badly needed support not only for our productions, but for the community activities we support as well as for our existing staff.”
