NHL Stars vs Relics
NHL stars will take to the ice to play against the Shelburne Relics. The House9 Hockey Foundation was established as a not-for-profit organization in 2008.
The goal is to make the game of hockey more accessible to children, regardless of their financial circumstances.
It pursues this mission by providing equipment and/or paying registration fees so that grant-eligible children can participate in minor hockey.
The Foundation is administered by volunteers and raises funds through donations, sponsorships involving dozens of local companies, and events.
Strengthened by assistance provided through its affiliation with the NHL Players Association, the Foundation has enabled dozens of children to enroll and to participate in minor hockey.
Aaron Downey, a founding director, of House9 is a native of Dufferin County who played his minor hockey in local arenas and was a member of the
2008 Stanley Cup winning Detroit Red Wings.
Through Downey’s efforts the focus to date has been on assisting children in Dufferin County as well as in neighbouring Simcoe County.
The Foundation’s principal annual fundraising event consists of live music entertainment, a barbecue, family dance and a charity hockey game between the House9 Stars and the Shelburne Relics hockey team.
The House9 Stars consist of NHL players who donate their time to assist this worthwhile cause.
Entertainment will feature Atlantis Blue Print and Larry Melton.
Tickets are $15.00.
The event will get underway at 7:00 p.m.
