In his column of 19 January (“Signs of a New Day Dawning”), Doug Skeates reported seeing “windmills” in the ocean off Denmark. He must be ashamed of the Ontario government, who demand a wind turbine setback from rural homes of only 550 meters, but at least 5 kilometers from homes and the lakeshore in Toronto - and who ban wind turbines entirely in the riding of Brad Duguid, the former Energy Minister.
Mr Skeates began his column with praise for those who believe in global warming. “Global warming” is not supported by the facts. The IPCC has long since been shown to have lied with the “hockey stick” graph (which conveniently ignores the many incidents of rising and falling temperatures in the 20th century alone), to have rejected carefully peerreviewed papers discrediting the “global warming” theory and to have seized happily upon unsupported and nonpeer reviewed articles in the popular press to try to prove their thesis. The IPCC even hires novice scientists who favour the theory instead of seasoned and more honest experts.
The only scientific facts that I have seen published appeared in a book, “Heaven and Earth” by Geology Professor Ian Plimer, who cited irrefutable data covering the past 2,000 years to show that the current warming trend is but one of hundreds, all of which were followed by cooling trends. London's Thames River froze several times in living memory, and will likely freeze again. The IPCC has presented no facts at all.
“Global warming” is a fake. That should not keep us from improving the environment. Just don't use it to claim that wind turbines and solar panels will change anything.
