Peewee Bengals in double header
The Orangeville Home Hardware Peewee Bengals traveled to Bracebridge on July 7, for a doubleheader against the Muskoka Hornets.
The Bengals played some of their best baseball of the season in two exciting games but in the end the Hornets went home with two victories.
Trailing 6-1 after four innings in game one, the Bengals rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth to close the score to 6-5.
Muskoka responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and the Bengals were unable to mount another rally and lost 8-5 in six innings.
Orangeville pitchers Nick Whitehead and Zach Foskett combined to strike out 7 Muskoka batters.
In game two the Bengals rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take a 10-9 lead but the Hornets responded with two runs of their own to seal an 11-10 victory.
DJ Doiron, David MacMullen and Foskett shared the pitching duties for the Bengals.
Jake Quinlan led the Bengals offence with 3 hits for the day including a double and a triple. Kevin Paschalis, Foskett, and Doiron also had three hits, and Mac- Mullen led the way with four runs.
The Bengals will be hosting Bolton for a doubleheader on Saturday, July 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Princess of Wales park and will be participating in the upcoming Bolton Select tournament on July 27-29. T
