Lets take care of new Shelburne BMX track
If everyone in the Shelburne area didn’t already know, there is finally a brand new BMX bicycle track beside Greenwood Park in the Northeast corner of town.
This track, or should I say tracks, has been a long time coming and it is great to see kids riding their bicycles on it.
This track wouldn’t be possible without the supreme effort of Broken Boards SkateShop owner Richard Fender.
This great local business owner has been selling bicycles for years and now with this nearby track, hopefully his business will continue to grow.
With something like this comes a responsibility from the people who are going to use it.
As a former pro athlete I know how lucky I was to have a practice facility at my fingertips when I was a young motocross racer.
So now that we have this great BMX track, lets work together to protect it and make sure it is here for the a long time.
This means for the riders who are using it, lets try and keep it clean and not abuse it.
Here are some simple steps to follow: No littering (there are garbage cans up there to use)
Respect the local residents by keeping the noise down in the evenings.
Keep the track free of rocks and debris.
Everyone abide by the law while at the track.
There is no need for this awesome facility to get a bad reputation as a place of trouble.
In the past, the town of Shelburne has lagged behind other towns when it comes to facilities like this.
But, this new BMX park is state of the art and Shelburne is leading the way with its design and size.
To the youth of Shelburne, lets show some pride, take care of it and be thankful for what this town has given us.
